Post The Cobra Group
I am trying to do a bit of research on the Cobra Group - by searching online alot of people are labelling them as a scam - yet many seem to have been paid, and just whinge about the lower rate of pay? Does anybody know much about this group?

I have been working for them for about a week now (out of curiosity really), and alot has felt off since the beginning. I have a fair bit of experience for my age, and the first 'interview' the boss went into practically no detail on the job, what we are selling etc - just really says hi (and I guess gages who he thinks has a weak mind). Instead they discuss the 'opportunity' and potential earnings (sent major warning lights off in my head).

A few things the boss has said, such as he didnt want to hire highly qualified people as they were 'stuck in their ways' (aka not as young and much harder to con into the system). I've also noticed a few goods that are being distributed you can realistically get the exact same product through the distributor direct.

The company does actually pay you (I got paid - sure its lowly paid commissions, but its a job and better than flipping burgers). I guess the company still does feel a bit off to me, and I'm just doing it until I find better work. Every day we have 'meetings' (as I joke around with another girl in the office, brain washing sessions) where potential earnings are exaggerated by about 10-15%. Everytime I correct the boss, the question tends to be dodged :P It is quite said to see - there are many brilliant workers in the business who got blindly trapped by their own greed - does anybody know much about this company?

A real scam? Or just a lowly paying company with unethical recruiting procedures?

You might find some leads on them by searching here: http://groups.msn.com/DSMAXTheAftermath

Otherwise, whether it is a "scam" or not solely depends on your own definition of a scam. At least you know what you've gotten yourself into and are looking for something better. Just beware, because some people have all intentions of quitting but then find themselves trapped by their own "greed" as you put it.

Thanks for the link.

For me it was only ever temporary cash, but im flying up their ranks - I just find it amusing that im a 'stage three' (about to go to four) and im still on barely over 400 / week. They seem to trap people in due to their greed.

I am more concerned about the validity of their claims - as far as I can tell most of them are overblown and un-achievable?

Hey buddy, just got out of Cobra. Just wanted to warn you not to get taken in by 'flying up their ranks.' EVERYBODY gets told how they're one of the fastest promoted people, because EVERYBODY does get promoted fast, thats how they keep you. I know because I told people that. Just out of interest, who's your owner?

I got interviewed and got the job on Friday, i worked monday and truesday and now i've quit...it's completely wrong and unethical what they are doing and yeah you COULD progress if you are willing to be a complete pushover, overworked and VERY underpaid for at least 2 years! if you want to have a life and follow your dreams, DO NOT get trapped with this company...the rewards and not worth the effort. i worked out that you'll work 66 hours a week on average and for that work if you do manage to get £320 you will be earning £4.84 an hour, which is less than minimum wage.

it annoyed me that most of the people working there were kids, they hadn't finished highschool or that ones that had hadn't been to college or uni and they were getting ripped off to line the pockets of the people above them...steer clear of pyramid schemes, unless you're one of the first ones in, you won't make much.

Weirdly, an identical post appeared here

three years ago and he/she had been working for the Cobra Group for a week then.

Spooky coincidence, or Cobra trying to limit the damage.

It's not a coincidence, it's actually just because we copied content from other websites to get this website started, as our admin posted about here. It's very hard to start a forum, because no one wants to post in a forum that is inactive, so this is a common practice that helps to get the ball rolling. We've been honest about it from the start to hopefully prevent any confusion :)
